While a principal at Chiesa Thompson Architects, UAB commissioned us for design work to convert a 100 year old church into an academic facility. The program called for a 110 seat lecture hall, seminar rooms, study areas, student lounge, and faculty office space.
This historic preservation/ adaptive re-use design retained and enhanced the beautiful historic features of the building while upgrading the infrastructure to accommodate a state of the art teaching facility.
The project was recently presented an Exemplary Award by the Alabama Preservation Alliance, one of the two top awards for outstanding design.
